Mission Motors Visits Jay Leno’s Garage
Most of the world knows Jay Leno as a stand-up comic and the host of the Tonight Show. But to vehicle enthusiasts, he is better known as one of the ultimate car and motorcycle guys with a phenomenal collection. Even better? He is a big fan of alt-fuel vehicles. So it was an exciting opportunity when Jay was kind enough to invite our team down his “Big Dog Garage” earlier this month. We toured his vehicle collection, and talked at length about the past, present and future of transportation. Jay knows his stuff and he owns a number of EVs, from 1909 Baker Electric to a 2011 Chevy Volt. On camera (see the video here), we discussed Mission Motors’ advanced electric vehicle technology and gave him a ride on the Mission R in street trim. We’ll let Jay speak to the experience himself, but with a route consisting of L.A. traffic, wide open highway, and a few twisties here and there, the benefits of an optimized electric vehicle platform were on display. Here at Mission, we are passionate about the technological innovation, the performance potential and the environmental imperative of electric and hybrid vehicles. It was clear from our visit [...]

Distributed vs non-distributed BMSs
I just saw a picture of a non-distributed BMS installed on an Enerdel battery module. We use the same modules at Elithion, with our distributed BMS, and I though it would be fun to juxtapose the two. Granted, this is … Continue reading →

Wind, Waves and Whisky | Fully Charged
Robert Llewellyn is in Scotland to look at wind, waves and whisky! LIKE Fully Charged on Facebook @ fb.me Fully Charged Podcast on iTunes @ bit.ly Robert Llewellyn visits a wind farm in Scotland to speak to EVA Scotland Chairman Adrien Loening. There are 50 wind turbines here, generating almost 500MW of energy, making it nearly half the size of a nuclear power station. 33% of the energy Scotland uses is renewable, surpassing 2011's target of 30%. He then speaks with Andrew MacDonald from Islay Energy Trust to find out about tidal turbines. It is predicted that just 10 turbines will produce enough energy for the whole island of Islay. Finally Robert Llewellyn meets with the MD of Bruichladdich Distillery Mark Reynier, to discuss organic Whisky which is produced in a self-sustaining matter. Zero Motorcycles Races 4 Production Zero S ZF9 - TTXGP
This summer marks the first time that a production electric motorcycle class exists and Zero Motorcycles was the first manufacturer to enter with four 2012 Zero S ZF9s. The class, known as the North America TTXGP eSuperstock, is only open to entrants who are piloting a production electric motorcycle. This means any owner of a stock 2012 Zero S could actually compete (as long as they have a racing license). Not only were Zeros the only models competing in the eSuperstock class, Zero Motorcycles actually took 1st through 3rd in the open class which included two specialized independent eSuperbike teams and a manufacturer's eSuperbike team. An impressive showing for Zero and, unlike the other competitors in the open class, you can actually own the winning motorcycles today.
